It's been a great year for us horror video game fans so far, especially with the release of Hellblade 2 and announcements of more horror games. There's a certain adrenaline rush to horror games that makes it hard to let go of that controller. I'll admit it, I don't have the stomach for games like Outlast. However, I somehow push through them to get the satisfaction of completing them, and THAT feeling is unbeatable. Top 15 MUST PLAY Survival Horror Games (2024 Edition)
The number one horror game for me right now has to be Resident Evil 4 Remake. Let's admit it. Remakes are hard. There is way too much pressure on you to make an already near-perfect game, better. However, Capcom seems to have mastered the remake formula, with each formula being better than the last (cough, not you RE3 Remake). Just when I thought Resident Evil 2 Remake couldn't be topped in any way, RE4 Remake knocked it out of the park for me.
This is as perfect as a survival horror game can get. While it doesn't follow the pure survival horror route like RE7 or the action route like Resident Evil Village, it does the best of both worlds by blending horror and action perfectly together. Wait until you see the new design for the much feared regenerators. Nothing you do prepares you for it.
Okay, so I'll say this over and over again. Dead Space is the best space survival horror game out there. You have to wonder, what about Callisto Protocol, the game trying to be Dead Space? That is the problem. It tries to be Dead Space, but it can't quite beat the original in any way. As if the original wasn't good enough, EA decided to revamp it with a remake. Let me tell you this, it's the best possible remake you could have gotten for Dead Space.
