Apple has debuted version 17.4 of its iOS & iPadOS, and by making it compatible with European law.

Apple Announces BIG App Store Changes in iOS 17.4 (Alt App Stores, Default Browser, and More)

The release notes for the OS update are a masterpiece of understatement, as they barely mention the big changes required by the EU's Digital Markets Act: to allow browser engine choice and access to third-party app stores and paid services, before March 6.

Browser choice is only mentioned in the context of a known issue where the default browser choice screen – which now appears after installing the EU OS update – “may not appear when intended and apps that require certain managed rights may not install or display a wrong."

The notes also describe a couple of issues with "Alternative App Marketplaces."
