Japanese telecom giant NTT issued an apocalyptic warning about the imminent dangers of AI on Monday.
"Apocalyptic AI Warning: Unchecked AI Could Crash Democracy & Spark Wars!"
"If generative AI is allowed to remain unchecked, trust in society as a whole could be damaged as people become distrustful of each other and incentives are lost to guarantee authenticity and trustworthiness," the Japanese telecom operator argued in a joint proposal created with media Yomiuri Shimbun.
"There is concern that, in the worst case scenario, democracy and social order may collapse, resulting in war," the two entities claimed.
NTT and the Yomiuri Shimbun began a joint study on the ideal governance of generative AI in the fall of 2023.
