After many leaks regarding AirPods-branded headphones over the past few months, and a bunch of reports trying to leak what they will offer, Apple has finally launched the all-new AirPods Max via a press release. These are the first pair of wireless headphones in the AirPods series and offer some impressive features. But they're also priced at a staggering $549 (Rs.59,900 in India) which puts them well outside typical AirPods territory. As annoying as it is that Apple decided to call its headphones out of audiophile territory the AirPods Max, the headphones themselves offer some impressive features and some major upgrades over the AirPods Pro.

However, my personal opinion on the name is that whoever at Apple is responsible for naming these things needs to expand their list of acceptable words beyond Pro and Max. Max is acceptable (somewhat), when used for a device that is basically the same as another, but bigger – like the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's still just an iPhone, with a bigger screen. AirPods Max aren't just jumbo-sized AirPods, though. They are a completely different category of audio accessories, and they should have had a better name than this.
