After three Android 14 QPR1 Betas, Google has finally released the first beta version of Android 14 QPR2 for the Pixel devices, and it comes with some new and previously announced features. And of course, it wouldn't be an Android update if the new build doesn't add new features that are hidden and "coming soon." Here are all the new features in the Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1 update for Pixel devices starting with the Pixel 5.

The screen recording feature now allows you to record a specific app. It will continue to record the app until it is killed, meaning when you switch to using another app, it will continue to record the previous app. When you record a particular app, it doesn't let notification popups or UI elements bombard the recording, which is pretty cool and useful.

When an app uses your phone's camera or microphone, you can now swipe down and tap the green privacy indicator to reveal a new UI. Doing the same thing before would launch a full-screen Security Center-like user interface.

Updating a Pixel used to take ages, until Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1. If you recently updated your Pixel, you might have noticed a significant improvement in installation speed, and the same is not a coincidence. Many users have reported that the OTA installation of Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1 is significantly faster than before. I don't know exactly what contributed to this, but user Moshe noted that when he installed the update on his Pixel 8 Pro, the Tensor G3's mid-cores were being used. pic.twitter.com/vDBYVSRVQX — Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) November 16, 2023
