Google is making it easier for you to set all the other apps you use regularly for payments as your default wallet app in the upcoming Android version. Android 15 Beta 1 adds the option to set any other app as the default wallet. Similar to how you can change the default browser and default assistant on your phone.

As reported by Mishaal Rahman in his X (formerly Twitter) post, Android 15 Beta 1 lets you change the wallet role. This means that after the stable release, we may see banking and other apps asking for permission to be your default wallet app.

If you're running Android 15 Beta 1, here's how to set an app as your default wallet.

We noticed that it only shows Paytm and ICICI bank iMobile apps which currently allow NFC payments. The Google Pay or Google Wallet app will not appear unless you register a card in the respective app. We can expect support for more apps soon as Android 15 rolls out widely.
