Don't stare too deep into the spiral…

FIRST LOOK: Uzumaki | Toonami | swimming for adults

Adult Swim's adaptation of Junji Ito's landmark horror manga Uzumaki has been long overdue. How long, you ask? The four-episode miniseries has been delayed not once, not twice, but three times since it was first announced all the way back in 2019. The wait is almost over, however, as Adult Swim shared a new trailer on Friday for the anime, which will premiere on the late-night animation block on September 28.

The four-episode series follows the story of Kirie Goshima and Shuichi Saito, two high school students living in the quiet Japanese town of Kurouzu-cho. When a series of disturbing incidents linked to a mysterious "spiral curse" begin to affect the townspeople, Kirie and Shuichi must find a way to survive amid the horrors in hopes of saving themselves and their loved ones.

Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushi-Shi and Flowers of Evil) directs the Uzumaki anime, which is produced by Japanese animation studio Drive (To Your Eternity Season 2). In addition, legacy composer Colin Stetson is composing the score.
