Apple's compliance measures with the EU's Digital Markets Act haven't exactly been widely received, so iMaker is making some adjustments to appease the software-developing masses.

Apple Developer: Switch from Individual to Business

In a post to its developer website today, Apple said it's not only changing how developers can distribute apps, but also changing the structure of alternative app marketplaces and links out for purchases made outside the official iOS App Store.

First, let's get the quick news out of the way, starting with changes to alternative app marketplaces. While previously alternative app marketplaces in the EU had to allow apps from other developers, Apple now says that marketplaces "may choose to offer a catalog of apps solely from the developer of the marketplace."

Think a meta market that only includes Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and the like — but not an Epic Games store, since developers still have to be part of Apple's developer program.
