According to the report, the Cupertino giant has plans to drop its social media advisor roles, including the paid Community Specialist role on its Apple Support Community online forum.

Starting October 1, 2023, users on Twitter will not receive human replies to their direct messages. Instead, they will receive an automated response detailing other ways to reach Apple for help. Additionally, various sources reveal that Apple will not offer technical assistance to customers in the comments section of videos uploaded to the Apple Support YouTube channel.

This change is expected to affect over 150 employees, who are reportedly being given an opportunity to switch to a phone-based support role. The employees will receive formal training to deliver telephone-based assistance, and the transition is expected to take place in November. That said, Apple does not allow these employees to switch to any other chat-based support role, unless there is a medical condition.
