Apple is launching the very useful Apple Watch "For Your Kids" feature in India for select Apple Watch models. It is a safety and security focused feature for children and other family members who do not own a phone. This allows parents to set up the Apple Watch with cellular connectivity for their children, even if they don't have an iPhone. It's a super useful feature for parents who don't want to give smartphones to their kids and still want to keep track of their whereabouts. Kids can make/receive calls and exchange messages directly from their Apple Watch.

How Apple Watch can be your child's phone with Family Setup

The Apple Watch "For Your Kids" feature allows a child to call and send messages to contacts approved by their parents. Children can share their location with guardians via the Find People app on Apple Watch and they can also use Emergency SOS to access emergency services. Parents will be notified if they are listed as an emergency contact. With this feature, kids can play songs on Apple Music, use Maps for navigation and call Siri for any question. There's also a dedicated school time mode that activates Do Not Disturb and restricts app access to reduce distractions during school hours. Parents can also schedule school hours in advance.

Apple said exercise modes like Outdoor Run, Outdoor Walk and Outdoor Cycle have been optimized specifically for kids. In addition, Apple Watch has been tuned to track minutes of movement instead of kilojoules burned and provides personalized activity goals for an active lifestyle.

The new feature comes with the following parental controls:
