Unfortunately, you can’t simply restore your text messages from Google Drive, so you’ll have to perform a factory reset where you can then restore the data from your last backup on your Google Drive account. The navigation will look different for various Android phones, but generally, you can use the following steps.

Stop location tracking on Android devices

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen so that you see your Quick Settings menu, and long-press on the Location icon, or swipe down, tap the Settings icon, and choose “Location.”
2. You’re now on the Location page. Find the “Use location” feature at the top and toggle it off.

Smartphones can still be tracked even if location services and GPS are turned off, according to Princeton University researchers. The technique, called PinMe, shows it is possible to track a location even if the location services, GPS, and Wi-Fi are turned off.

Phones used by average people on major networks like Verizon and AT (the carriers who support the iPhone) only keep text messages for a few days. AT for instance, only keeps a deleted text message for 72 hours. Verizon keeps deleted SMS messages for up to 10 days.

In a browser, use the Search Messenger box in Chats. From within a conversation, go to More Actions > Search in Conversation. In the iOS or Android app, tap Search. To download your message history, use the Facebook Download Your Information tool under Settings.

A padlock icon is displayed next to the person’s profile picture to tell you if a conversation is ‘Secret’. You are still – like a normal Facebook message conversation – able to block and report users. All Secret Conversations can be deleted from your Facebook app.

In an encrypted chat, both you and the recipient have a device key which can be optionally used to verify that the messages are indeed end-to-end encrypted. If you can verify that the device keys match, your conversations are encrypted end-to-end.
