There are no geysers in Canada. The coldest springs known in Canada are found near the head of Expedition Fjord on Axel Heiberg Island, Nunavut. Their water temperatures range as low as -2.9° C.

Only one hot spring can boast the title of being Canada’s largest natural mineral hot spring, and that’s British Columbia’s Fairmont Hot Springs.

Unfortunately, unlike its sibling provinces to the west, Ontario doesn’t boast impressive geographical features like mountains and natural hot springs. But, we make do with manufactured hot pools, like the one at the Millcroft Inn and Spa in Caledon.

Steamboat Geyser
Tucked away in the Norris Geyser Basin is Steamboat Geyser, the world’s tallest active geyser. Its major eruptions shoot water more than 300 feet (91 m).

Norris Geyser Basin
1. Norris Geyser Basin, Yellowstone. This tallest geyser in the world set the highest temperature ever recorded in the park. It’s so far above sea level that the boiling point is 199°F rather than the sea-level 212°, but a hole drilled by scientists to 1,087 feet deep found a temperature of 459°F.

Located in Caledon about an hour northwest of Toronto, the Millcroft Inn offers a number of hot spring pools as part of its on-site spa facilities. The outdoor area at Millcroft isn’t quite as scenic as the more wooded grounds at Scandinave, but it’s also closer to the city and just as pretty.

There are no geysers in Canada. Cold mineral springs are found in other parts of Canada.

Commercial geothermal power has been continuously generated at The Geysers since 1960, and it is the largest complex of geothermal power plants in the world.
