Arrowhead Game Studios has found itself in a tough spot following the recent "Escalation of Freedom" update in Helldivers 2, which has sparked significant backlash among the player base. The update introduced controversial weapon nerfs that led to an unexpected player protest.
Shams Jorjani initially responded to player feedback on Discord and X, promising that the team would look into it. And Arrowhead has quickly responded with a hotfix, but it doesn't address the nerfs? Players feel that the studio continues to overlook the main issue.
It all started when Helldivers 2 released the Escalation of Freedom update on August 6, 2024. The update brought two popular fire-based weapons – the SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary and the FLAM-40 Flamethrower. Although the intention of the change was for better balance, many players felt that the nerfs made the weapons almost useless.
