Q. Can you set up an iPad for a child?
To set up parental controls from your iPhone, you need to turn on Family Sharing and create an Apple ID for your child, a process that includes providing their birthdate. Google Family Link works if both you and your child have Android devices.

Q. Should I create an Apple ID for my child?
Everyone should have their own Apple ID, so don’t share your Apple ID with your child. If your child doesn’t have an Apple ID, you can create an Apple ID for them when you set up Family Sharing. If your child already has an Apple ID, they should keep using it.
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences.
- Click Family Sharing.
- Click the Add button .
- Click Create Child Account.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the account. You can use the child’s email address for their Apple ID. Be sure to enter the correct birth date — you can’t change it later.
Q. What do you lose when you create a new Apple ID?
When you change your Apple ID, you will not lose any data. If you create a new Apple ID, that will cause you to have to start over and lose everything that you purchased with that ID. My account is associated with both my new email and an old iCloud.
Q. What happens if we change your Apple ID?
If you no longer use the email address that’s associated with your Apple ID, you can change it. You won’t lose access to your contacts, purchases, or other account information.
Q. Will I lose my photos if I change my Apple ID?
The photos in your camera roll will not be removed, when you sign out of your AppleID. But you have to make sure, that you really have not been storing photos in iCloud. After a system update, iCloud Photos may have become enabled, without you noticing it. Please check the Settings.
Q. What happens if you restore an iPad?
A factory restore erases the information and settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod and installs the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or iPod software.
