It all started with Ymir Fritz, the one who got the titan powers for the first time. After her death, her lifeless body was consumed by her three daughters, namely Sina, Maria and Rose. Her powers were then divided into the Nine Titans, one of which was the Giant Colossal Titan.
Unlike other titans, the Colossal Titan has the most hideous appearance. That's because it doesn't have skin on some parts of its face.
After Ymir's death, the powers of the colossal titan were passed on between various Eldian users. When the King of Eldia, Karl Fritz, moved to Paradis Island from Eldia, the colossal titan powers went to Marley at the time of the Great Titan War.
