As a game based on the American Civil War, it is not surprising that shooting and the proper use of your weapons is one of the main parts of the game.
The basics of shooting in Battle Cry of Freedom
One of the foundations of any third-person shooter is, well, of course the shooting! However, Battle Cry of Freedom has some unique twists that are worth keeping in mind.
First of all, let's get the basics out of the way. You can aim by pressing the right mouse button and shoot with the left mouse button. Pressing V changes the view to first-person, making it easier to aim more accurately, and pressing B brings up the iron sights for even more precision. Finally, the R key will reload your weapon.
You also have to note that there are big differences between the weapon types, like short range and low accuracy shotguns, where rifles are the opposite of long range and pinpoint accuracy shotguns and muskets are kind of in-between in range and accuracy but make up for their weaknesses with bayonets that enable close combat.
