Blizzard Entertainment is reportedly working on a new AAA first-person shooter (FPS) with role-playing game (RPG) elements. The studio has been an icon in the industry, making blockbusters like Diablo, World of Warcraft and Overwatch.
According to various online sources, the project was hinted at by an executive, who briefly listed the unannounced title on his LinkedIn profile. The studio has historically been known for innovating. And while its recent titles have had hiccups, this project could signal an exciting new chapter for the company.
Blizzard has been at the forefront of the gaming industry for decades, delivering classics like Diablo, World of Warcraft and Overwatch. But the studio has run into some problems. In 2023, following the acquisition by Microsoft, the studio laid off 1,900 employees and canceled several under-development projects.
