Mark Boost, CEO of UK cloud firm Civo, told The Register in an interview that Broadcom's strategy appears to be one of throwing most VMware clients to the wind while trying to keep the biggest ones in an effort to shore up profits. You can watch the full interview below.

"It was very clear … that the focus was on just 600 accounts, I think. And there were another 6,000 customers that were mentioned that they want to keep," Boost told us. "It specifically mentioned that hundreds of thousands of customers would follow over time."

Many of those customers have expressed reservations about forced bundle pricing that Boost said has resulted in significantly higher prices.
