As long as this card is face-up on the field it is unaffected by all Trap Cards or other Monster Card’s effects. This card cannot be returned to it’s owner’s hand or be destroyed by an effect of a Spell Card.

Kaiba managed to destroy Ra with a powered up Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, but Yugi countered by using Monster Reborn to revive Ra, and he then used a new card of his called Name of the Pharaoh to fuse the Egyptian Gods into Horakhty the Creator of Light.

Obelisk’s real-life effect only protects the card from being “targeted” by card effects. Dark Hole destroys cards without targeting, so Obelisk can be destroyed by Dark Hole.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Unfortunately, the Egyptian God Cards have never been allowed in Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments. But, if you duel with your friends, you can use any cards you want, even the Egyptian God Cards, and completely ignore the Forbidden/Limited Card lists.

Is that the official reason? I can assure you, Konami does not make the original set of Egyptian God cards Illegal because they fear that a random duelist will summon the card and lose control of them, inadvertently destroying the world. I have played my Obelisk before and the world is still intact.

Yata-garasu’s sole purpose is to prevent people from answering your threats. It’s worthless when it’s not doing this. It’s only good as part of a lock. That’s why, even though it’s not nearly as easy to get the full lock anymore, it’s still banned, and will forever be so.

Tournament Eligibility

Instead of worrying about having the monster with the highest ATK, activate “Last Turn” when you have “Jowgen the Spiritualist” on the field. His effect prevents your opponent from performing a Special Summon.
