Realistic imitation firearms (RIF) Section 36 of the VCRA made it an offence to manufacture, import or sell a realistic imitation firearm or to modify an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm. A realistic imitation firearm brought into the UK is liable to forfeiture.

I used a pellet rifle that slung a hollow point lead pellet at 1,200 fps (pellets are designed to kill small animals and ARE NOT the same as airsoft bbs). Neck shots and head shots dropped the rats right away. Even heart shots, the rat will scurry for a short distance before bleeding out.

However, if you shoot on sensitive small birds or you shoot with a gun that has a high rate of FPS or if you target on the sensitive areas of the targeted bird’s head, then there are greater chances that you get successful in killing the bird.

177 pellet going at ~350 fps will kill rats cleanly as long as the shooter does his or her part. However a heavier . 22 pellet at ~40 0 to ~450 fps will be more reliable.

Can it kill a rat? Answer: Sure…if you’re close enough and you hit it in the head. There are much better choices though than a Red Ryder- in terms of quality, power, and accuracy.

Stock Airsoft guns cannot kill. It is therefore nearly impossible for an airsoft gun to cause an injury that would lead to death. Even with modifications, your airsoft gun would only fly fast enough to penetrate the skin but not deep enough to hit any organs that would result to death when they are hit.
