One of the most common grammar errors made by people of all ages is to start a sentence with the word “Me.” For example: “Me and my family will be there at 8,” or “Me and Josh are going to play baseball.” Instead, you refer to yourself second in sentences like that, and usually you should use “I” instead of “me.”

Use “a” before words that start with a consonant sound and “an” before words that start with a vowel sound. Other letters can also be pronounced either way. Just remember it is the sound that governs whether you use “a” or “an,” not the actual first letter of the word.

The object pronoun me is typically used as the direct or indirect object of a sentence. It receives the action of the verb or shows the result of the action. So you shouldn’t really say “Me ran.” You can say “My dog ran to me,” because in this case me is receiving the action of the dog running.

Use an objective pronoun (me, you, him, her, them) as a direct or indirect object of a sentence or the object of a preposition….

Never begin a sentence—or a clause—with also. Teach the elimination of but, so, and, because, at the beginning of a sentence. A sentence should not commence with the conjunctions and, for, or however….

You never use double periods or question marks at the end of a sentence. “U.S.” at the end of a sentence is just U.S. (Note: three dots — they’re not periods but dots — make up what is called an ellipses [plural of one dot which is called an ellipsis].
