It’s also 100% recyclable and a great choice if you want to give a natural, environmentally-friendly look to your product. One side of the board has a smoother finish than the other and is suitable for printing.

While both paperboard and cardboard cartons are recyclable, it is often easier to recycle cardboard. Most communities have recycle programs for cardboard, glass, plastics, and other items. However, paper recycling and paperboard recycling centers can be difficult for your customers to find.

It is the best card for printing on to and consequently it is used for hard backed books and more expensive items. Solid white board can be recycled, when the package is no longer needed. This material can also be recycled, especially if biodegradable inks are used for images and text.

In fact, corrugated cardboard is among the most frequently and successfully recycled materials in the world. It’s not hard to recycle corrugated boxes. They can be taken to a recycling center or placed in curbside recycling pickup bins for collection.

Most cardboard can be recycled, such as boxes, plates, tubes, fiberboard, and paperboard. But contaminated cardboard with grease or oil, such as a pizza box, can’t be recycled into high-quality cardboard.

MOST board with a white side in or out, is NOT 100% recycled content. White is typically virgin paper, that does not make it bad, in fact it makes for a great printing surface, but it is definitely not green if the goal is to use as much recycled content as possible.

Since cardboard is biodegradable, it produces Methane (the greenhouse gas) as it breaks down. If you don’t recycle cardboard, then it will end up in landfill and increase the amount of Methane that is released into the atmosphere.

Cardboard has a lot of environmental benefits. It is 100 percent recyclable whether you use it in the form of corrugated fiberboard or paperboard. It does not cause any wastage. It is unlike plastic material as plastic is not recyclable in numerous cases and is bad for our environment.

Paper is an easy material to recycle because, unlike plastic or metals, it doesn’t require extreme heat to melt it down to make it into a new form, the way plastics and metals do. As we will see, however, it still takes some energy and water to complete the recycling process. And paper can’t be recycled too many times.

How to Make a Recycled Paper (Without Using a Blender)

1. Shred the paper. We used our hands to tear the paper into smaller papers.
2. Soak the shredded paper. You can soak the old papers for just five to ten minutes unless you use old newspaper.
3. Mash the paper.
4. Transfer the paper pulp to the silk screen.
5. Let it dry.

Handmade Paper. The bleached cloth is finely chopped into small pieces. It is possible to do this without a hand blender. A potato masher, for instance, will give the same effect—albeit with a little more effort. After the paper is thoroughly pulped, squeeze the pulp to remove some of the excess water.

Hi, It should not hurt it if you tear the strips about 3/4″ wide and rip them in half and then blend them in plenty of water. Just don’t do too many at a time. I picked up a used blender at a Goodwill store for my paper pulp making.

What to Do:

1. Tear the newspaper, scrap paper, or wrapping paper into very small bits.
2. Beat the paper and water in the blender, or with the egg beater, to make pulp.
3. Pour the pulp into the flat pan.
4. Slide the screen into the bottom of the pan and move it around until it is evenly covered with pulp.

Depending on several factors, such as the method employed, amount of pressing, paper thickness, and humidity, handmade paper can take anywhere from thirty minutes to several days to completely dry, though ironing can dry paper in mere minutes.

Place the lid on the blender and blend the paper pieces and water until it creates a soup-like mixture. Place the frame over a large bowl. Pour the paper pulp over the frame and use the rolling pin to spread the pulp evenly across the frame.

The first step in creating a sheet of paper is to make pulp, which you can do with a blender and recycled paper. If you really get into papermaking, there are many ways you can upgrade the process to increase your production and make larger sheets, but I recommend starting out small.

I recommend couching onto pellon if you are going to air dry, because it dries quickly. Spread the pellons out on screens or on a rack so that air circulates around them, or hang them on a clothesline to dry. You can also pin pellon to a wall or board to hold it taut as it dries.

Place an iron on low setting then iron the paper. Move the iron in circles, this will speed up the drying process. After a couple of minutes flip the paper over and iron the back side to get even drying. Depending on the thickness of your paper you may need to iron for a few extra minutes.

Microwave the paper for about 15 seconds to evaporate some of the water. Afterwards, press the paper flat with a heavy item to get rid of wrinkles. If you have a book or binder full of wet paper, place a paper towel between every ten or so pages to absorb water. Then, place the papers in front of a gentle fan.

Please be aware that it is nearly impossible to restore a flood-damaged book or document to its original condition. Carefully remove the papers from the water. When pages are partially dry, pile and press books to keep pages from wrinkling and crumpling. Alternate drying and pressing until the books are thoroughly dry.

It will usually look presentable and usable after wetting it slightly with distilled water, then pressing it between heavy books, or ironing it under a towel. These methods do risk tearing and color fading, so be careful. You may wish to take important pieces of paper to a professional archivist for preservation.
