The RTX 4090 is the best graphics card from Nvidia and also the most performing. However, it was so powerful that it was part of banned GPUs in China (and several other countries) due to recently imposed sanctions by the Biden-led US government. To counteract just that, Nvidia has launched an exclusive RTX 4090 D in China. Here's what's different about this new GPU, including a spec comparison with the previously banned model.
Is the 4090 really that good?
To catch up with you, the US had imposed sanctions on many countries to essentially limit their artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. When Nvidia's top graphics card was banned in China, we first heard news of an 'RTX 4090 D' coming to the country.
Despite the ban, thousands of RTX 4090s were found to be received at various China-based factories for disassembly and reuse into new GPUs with new coolers.
"GeForce RTX 4090 D has been designed to fully comply with US government export controls. While developing this product, we had extensive engagement with the US government," an NVIDIA spokesperson told Reuters
