Copilot in Windows is set to become even more confident after Microsoft added a feature that makes the AI assistant's window pop up after a user's cursor hovers over the taskbar icon.

Dynamics 365 Sales Copilot news

Microsoft's Copilot has touched every part of Redmond's portfolio over the past year. The IT giant even went so far as to release a bare-bones version in the open chest of Windows 10 in the past few months. However, it is in Windows 11 that Microsoft has invested the most energy, at least in terms of AI-enabled operating systems.

Windows Insiders on the beta channel — with the option to enable the latest updates — will soon be on the receiving end of what Microsoft calls "a new hover experience for Copilot in Windows" from build 22635.3276.

If your mouse cursor happens to hover over the Copilot icon in the taskbar, the Copilot box will pop up to make users aware of the delights on offer. The result, we suspect, will be to educate users in the art of turning off the feature. Much like widgets, which will also make their unwanted presence felt if a user moves the mouse over its icon.
