"In the latest back-to-school initiative from Jeff Clarke, HR will keep an attendance report on employees and rate them on four levels based on how well they meet the goal of being in the office 39 days a quarter." A source familiar with Dell told The Register, citing the IT giant's chief operating officer.

"Employees who do not meet the attendance requirement will have their status escalated up the ladder to Jeff Clarke, who apparently believes that being a hall monitor trumps growing revenue."

In a statement, a Dell spokesperson told The Register, "We shared with team members our updated hybrid work policy. Team members in hybrid roles will be on-site at a Dell Technologies office at least 39 days per quarter (an average of three days per week) .In today's global technology revolution, we believe that personal connections coupled with an agile approach are critical to driving innovation and value differentiation."
