With Despicable 4 continuing to dominate the franchise at the box office, a fifth entry in the Steve Carell-led IP seems inevitable.

Despite a fumbling start at the summer box office, things eventually picked up, starting with Inside Out 2, which became a force to be reckoned with at the box office and put Pixar back on track. Following in its footsteps now is Deadpool & Wolverine, which currently stands at $1.2 billion with its global collection.
But amid these two box-office juggernauts, the fourth entry in Steve Carell's Despicable Me franchise continues the Minions' dominance on the big screen, becoming the year's third top grosser.
Although the Despicable Me series has not been a huge hit with critics, this has not stopped the series from smashing the box office on a regular basis. With the Minions-led IP becoming the first animated franchise to cross $5 billion, Despicable 4 has now crossed $900 million to become the third biggest film of the year.
