As a group, sharks and batoids eat almost anything: fishes, crustaceans, molluscs, marine mammals, and other sharks. eat crabs and lobsters. Just about any animal in the ocean can be a meal to a shark.

Studying octopuses’ dietary preferences, however, can be a tricky endeavor. And for crustaceans, such as large crabs and lobster, the octopus can pre-digest the animal tissue inside the exoskeleton before slurping it out—leaving the traces of that meal to be carried away by the currents.

Should You Cook and Eat Dead Lobster? Most of the time, the answer is yes. If cooked within a day or so—again depending on the temperatures and conditions in which the dead lobster is stored—the lobster should be safe to eat even if it doesn’t quite have the same impeccable texture and flavor.
