Although Claire couldn’t exactly tell her the truth, Jenny’s feelings are as justified as she said she would have liked to have known she was alive. Jenny also adds that she knew Claire was hiding something from her (“First Wife”). It will be another 10 years after this before Claire tells the Murrays the truth.

Jamie has a son named William Ransom with Geneva Dunsany, who died during William’s birth. Jamie also has two stepdaughters, Marsali MacKimmie Fraser and Joan MacKimmie, from his marriage to his second wife, Laoghaire MacKenzie.

While she didn’t die, Jenny has been unable to return due to actress Laura Donnelly’s conflicting work commitments, which is only set to increase when she becomes the lead in Joss Whedon’s new HBO show The Nevers.

This was part of the reason Dougal himself didn’t marry Claire, as well as the fact he was married at the time. This is because Claire would now be seen as a Scottish woman, and Dougal’s wife and lover were both dead.

In season one Claire was first introduced as a nurse married to her husband Frank in the 1940s. However, through a series of unexplained events, she was catapulted into the past where she met a young Jamie. The pair married and eventually fell in love, leaving Claire tortured over who to be with.

Both season two of Outlander and its novel counterpart Dragonfly in Amber follow Claire Fraser’s (played by Caitriona Balfe) first pregnancy. Claire fell pregnant with their child after believing she wouldn’t be able to conceive when she and her first husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) tried without much luck.

The house on Fraser’s Ridge does burn down, but, as you may have surmised since there are more books after this one, Jamie and Claire are not fatally harmed when it does. The house fire does, however, push the Frasers toward their next adventure: a return to Scotland.

It is believed that the actual purpose of Jamie’s ghost being outside of Claire’s window was to help steer her to his own time where they would meet. Since Claire’s trip through the stones at Craigh Na Dun was completely accidental, she could have ended up at any time in the past.

Jamie’s words suggest there was clearly something wrong in the marriage and Laoghaire seemed to be afraid of sex and intimacy due to her previous relationships. Nonetheless, Jamie did have sexual relations with Laoghaire in a bid to make the marriage work but ultimately failed and so the couple separated.

However, speaking in a recent interview, actor Sam hinted Jamie did in fact die after Culloden. The subtle hint came as Sam talked about Jamie being bitten by a snake in season five and coming close to death. He explained: “That episode really comes out of nowhere really.

It quickly became clear Jamie’s ghost was trying to find his beloved which is probably why he was watching Claire. However, this hasn’t been confirmed by author of the novels Diana Gabaldon, who said the truth will be explained in the final book.

Laoghaire lassos Jamie for a kiss, but Jamie especially enjoys it when he realizes Claire is watching. Claire’s voiceover tells us that she feels guilty for teasing Jamie and that she did it because she was jealous… not jealous of Laoghaire but of their “intimacy.” Then she has thoughts of Frank.

Obviously, Roger doesn’t fulfill Jamie’s dying wish—since Jamie doesn’t actually die—but he ends the episode by telling Jamie he’ll help find and kill Bonnet.

The plotline may have led some to consider whether Jamie cheats on Claire in the novel – however, this isn’t the case. While Jamie doesn’t cheat on Claire, the accusations will rock Fraser’s Ridge as his honour is called into question.

According to Express, in season 1 of Outlander, Claire is 26-years-old with a birthdate of October 20, 1918. At that time, Jamie is 23-years-old, with a birthdate of May 1, 1721. Despite the small age gap, Claire is revealed to be the much more experienced one out of the pair.

Claire tells the entire family her true identity of being a time-traveller from the future, but Jenny still views her as a ‘witch’ or ‘faery-woman’. Jenny stays with Ian until he dies on March 10, 1778. Afterward, she chooses to go to America with Jamie because nothing holds her at Lallybroch any longer.

Jamie Fraser

Starz time travel drama Outlander saw Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) thrown into mortal peril in season five. After being bitten by a rattle snake, he was left close to death. Jamie was adamant he would rather die than have his leg amputated, believing it was better this way.

Regardless of their deteriorating relationship and marriage, the two still loved each other deeply. It, of course, was a different love than what they started with at the beginning of their relationship, but was always there. Even Claire told Frank once he passed that she did love him very much.

Since there is a price on Jamie’s head, he, his sister Jenny, and his brother-in-law Ian concoct a scheme wherein she “turns him in” to the British, as he is wanted for the crime of treason for the part he had played in Bonnie Prince Charlie’s attempted Scottish uprising.

After she becomes pregnant, she accuses Jamie of being the father, much to Claire’s shock. Claire is accused of murder and is locked up—because her entire existence is grim in A Breath of Snow and Ashes. Malva’s father, Tom, confesses to his daughter’s murder—but it turns out he’s innocent, too.

In season 5 episode 10 ‘Mercy Shall Follow Me’, Stephen Bonnet (Speleers) finally got his comeuppance – but it wasn’t Jamie Fraser or Roger MacKenzie that delivered the killing blow. After being sentenced to death by drowning, the villain was then surprisingly shot in the head by Brianna (Sophie Skelton).

At first, Bree is sure that Bonnet is the father. After all, Roger pulled out but Bonnet didn’t. She tells Bonnet that she believes he is the father. This leads to a bigger storyline as Bonnet decides he wants to get his hands on Jemmy.

In response to a fan tweet, Gabaldon confirmed that Jamie would never travel to the future. “Nope, never happening,” she tweeted, much to the dismay of hopeful fans. So, unless Gabaldon changes her mind for the final book of the Outlander series, it looks like Jamie Fraser is locked in the past forever.

Just when it looked like Jamie might lose his leg or die, he survived and didn’t require an amputation. The storyline is taken from the Diana Gabaldon novel The Fiery Cross which plays out in the same way. Ultimately, Jamie is fine and doesn’t die, but it does give him a deeper sense of his mortality.

During this time, Jamie was left close to death and bereft without his wife. However, after some convincing from his sister Jenny Murray (Laura Donnelly), Jamie married Laoghaire. Sadly, their relationship didn’t work out and before long she moved out with the pair estranged.

In Diana Gabaldon’s novels, Jamie was unaware of Laoghaire’s involvement in the witch trial. As well as this, Laoghaire did not openly testify against Claire, which left what she had done as a secret. Jamie only finds out what she did much later after he had married her.

Among these is one moment in season three when Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) slept with Mary McNab (Emma Campbell-Jones). The scene took place after Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) returned to the future shortly before the Battle of Culloden after Jamie feared for the safety of his wife and their unborn child.
