In my opinion, Charlotte has more restaurants and a newer downtown, more colleges and universities and a better airport for airline ticket prices. However, Raleigh is the capitol on NC and probably has a better employment market for job seekers.

Charlotte has more of a big city feel and Raleigh is more suburban. Charlotte has the real downtown area.. in comparision downtown Raleigh is a laugher if that is your thing. Both areas have their pros and cons.. you really have to research both and see what fits best.

I wouldn’t call it nicer per say but it’s larger and more variety of restaurants, shopping and activities. Some claim the crime is less in Raleigh too but I think that depends on the area and crime. I personally like the architecture in downtown Durham better than Raleigh.
