What is a university summer school? University summer schools in UK offer short-term programmes to high school students and university students to take up during summer months. These programmes help students learn new skills, experience college life and make incredible memories.

A summer school to encourage state school pupils to apply to Oxford has become so popular that securing a place is almost as difficult as getting an offer to study at the university itself. Applications to join Oxford’s week-long UNIQ summer school this year have surged, with 4,400 candidates chasing 850 places.

Summer classes tend to be more expensive than courses taken during traditional semesters, because there are fewer students but similar overhead costs. As mentioned previously, summer courses generally move faster than other classes because there is less time to cover the same amount of material.
