The latest update to Debian "Bookworm" comes at the same time as the latest update ever to "Bullseye", and there are issues for Nvidia legacy users.

Debian 12.7 'Bookworm' : Important updates, security improvements and key changes

The end of August saw two new point upgrades for Debian fans. The project published updates for two separate releases: one for Bookworm in the form of Debian 12.7 and, on the same day, the last one for Bullseye with Debian 11.11.

This is the sixth release for Bookworm since 12.3 never happened. As usual, no package versions are bumped: 12.7 collects all updates released since 12.6, so it contains just over 50 updates and bug fixes.

One thing it doesn't include is the userspace tools to maintain bcachef's file system. The bcachefs-tools package has been removed, and maintainer Jonathan Carter described it as too buggy to be anything other than experimental. Although the filesystem itself is currently still implemented in C, version 1.2 of the userspace tools were rewritten in Rust, causing headaches for the package maintainers, as he elaborates in a lengthy blog post.
