Dragon's Dogma 2 has a unique forging system, which allows players to create duplicates of any item for gold. The spoofing feature may sound extremely broken, but it does have some drawbacks. One of the downsides is that you can only duplicate one item at a time, and it takes an entire day to complete. Another downside is that copying rare items can be very expensive. However, the biggest problem facing Dragon's Dogma players is the third drawback, which isn't that obvious if you don't read the item descriptions properly. 13 things you didn't know were possible in DRAGON'S DOGMA 2

The third disadvantage is that players can duplicate important items by paying the necessary gold, but the duplicated item does not work. A common trick many have tried, ever since the first game, was to forge Portcrystals. Duplicating Portcrystals may sound extremely clever, and you can duplicate the item, but the duplicated item is a complete scam and doesn't work at all.

This also applies to Golden Trove Beetles in Dragon's Dogma 2, which increase the load limit and Ferry Stones. Many new players have already fallen victim to this scam. Image Courtesy: In-Game Screenshot (Edited by Sanmay Chakrabarti)

But why doesn't the duplicate important items work, when it does for other items? This is because the duplicate important items are not a complete replica, and even have a different name than the original item. If you pay attention to the names of the duplicate Golden Trove Beetle, you will realize that it is actually "Golden Tove Beetle", or "Partcrystal" and not Portcrystal.
