Dr. Disrespect admits that the messages are minor
Herschel "Guy" Beahm, the popular streamer known online as "DrDisrespect," has confirmed previous allegations that Twitch had banned him in 2020 for exchanging messages with a minor.
"Are there Twitch whispers with a single minor in 2017? The answer is yes," Beahm wrote on Tuesday, X. "If there was real intent behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more.” At the time of publication, Beahm has edited his tweet twice on X. This past weekend, two Twitch employees came forward — one on X on June 22 and one to The Verge on June 23 — to claim that Beahm had been banned from the platform after using a Twitch DM feature called "whispers" for to exchange messages with a minor. After the news broke, Midnight Society, a game development studio that Beahm co-founded, announced that they had ended their relationship with the streamer.
