Being an Android user, I like Wear OS smartwatches and their ease of use. They help me navigate through busy streets and help me with quick actions without having to pick up my phone. Most importantly, as someone with notification anxiety, they make my life easier by showing notifications. However, there is one thing I absolutely despise about all Wear OS smartwatches: their unresponsive (or overly responsive) tilt-to-wake feature.

The ONE feature holding back Wear OS (…that Google REFUSES TO FIX!)

Tilt-to-wake might not be a terribly useful feature. As someone who bought a Wear OS smartwatch thinking the feature would be very handy when cycling and using Google Maps extensively, it never fails to disappoint me, no matter what device I try.

I own both a Pixel Watch 2 and Galaxy Watch 7, and the tilt-to-wake feature on them is on opposite sides of the spectrum. When riding, I (quite obviously) tilt my watch while my hand rests on the handlebars to check the next direction. The Pixel Watch 2 activates with every slight tug, which affects battery life. I've noticed this happens way too much when the screen is always on.

On the Samsung, tilt-to-wake is too tight and the wrist must be quite difficult to recognize. That's why I always take my hand off the handle. Or I use my other hand to tap the watch for directions, which can be dangerous on the road.
