There's no doubt that the announcement of Gears of War: E-Day came as a big surprise. Many expected the next release to be a sequel to Gears 5 or a Gears collection of the first three games. However, neither came to fruition.
Gears of War: E-Day takes players back to the beginning of the Locust War, with Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. While gamers are excited for another Gears of War game, they're hoping the Xbox will reach the tone of the game's history.
As shown in the E-Day trailer, the new title will be an origin story for the hero Marcus Fenix. It will take place during the terrifying Emergence Day incident, where the Locust hordes launched from Earth. The title shows Marcus and Dominic pairing off as they fend off these monstrosities.
