Android developer previews are an important step in the early development cycle because they largely define the next major Android release by adding frameworks that pave the way for important features. They usually land in February and according to a comment left by a Google developer in an AOSP Gerrit, the Android 15 developer preview can land tomorrow.

Android 15 Hands-On: Top 5 Features!

Android 14's first Developer Preview landed on February 7, and while we expected Android 15 DP1 to land on the same date, it didn't. Google has previously said that there will be changes to the release schedule for future Android releases, which includes feature reductions and perhaps major releases as well.

Talking about something (probably a feature), the developer says "Maybe it makes sense to wait until Android V will be available" and goes on to write "Its first developer preview is scheduled for February 15th." The comment appears to have been deleted now. Image source: Android Open Source Project

As for the features we could see in Android 15 DP 1, we recommend lowering your expectations because the first developer preview of the next major Android release doesn't always bring new features. If anything, the build will be full of bugs, and we recommend not installing Android 15 on your daily driver phone until it moves to Beta 3, at least.
