Fans might say that Florence Pugh was born to play Black Widow's Yelena Belova, but she wasn't the first actress in mind when Marvel Studios planned to bring the character to the big screen. In fact, one of her former co-stars was the studio's first choice.

Little Women star Saoirse Ronan and Harry Potter actress Emma Watson were considered for the role of the famous sister of Natasha Romanoff. Due to Pugh's unique chemistry with the role of Black Widow, she eventually landed the coveted role.

In an interview via The Town podcast, reporter Justin Kroll revealed that Marvel Studios was eyeing four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan for the role of Yelena Belova.
