The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has warned that fraudsters are targeting fraud victims with bogus offers to help them recover from fraud.

How To Get Money Back From Crypto Scams

The Commission (ACCC) today warned that fraudsters are targeting victims of fraud with schemes that demand an upfront fee to recover money lost in previous scams.

"Victims of past fraud are easily identified by criminals who typically retain and sell information about individuals they have taken advantage of," the ACCC's advice says.

Armed with that information, the scammers contact victims pretending to be "a trusted party such as a government agency, cybersecurity organization, fund recovery service, attorney, consumer organization, or charity."
