Qualcomm, Mediatek and Samsung are popular chipmakers for processors found in smartphones, and it looks like Xiaomi will join the race as well. A report from Counterpoint Research says that Mediatek CEO Rick Tsai has commented on a supposed ongoing partnership between ARM and Xiaomi!

Mediatek CEO says "I can't say if they can succeed in the Xiaomi business", essentially confirming that ARM and Xiaomi are secretly working on new processors dedicated to Xiaomi devices!
With this, Xiaomi would not have to rely on Mediatek or Qualcomm for processors. Instead, they could be like Samsung (which has Exynos) and release their phones with a Xiaomi SoC inside! This is pretty exciting, and if it all works out, it would be a big development for Xiaomi.
I feel that Xiaomi offers a lot of value on the table on many of their mid-range and flagship smartphones. With their processors, things can change drastically for future Xiaomi phones, gadgets or the electric car.
