As fans of the sci-fi space opera would agree, The Next Generation would undoubtedly go down as one of the best series from the Star Trek universe created to date. With the help of late mastermind Gene Roddenberry's supervision, the show has received huge acclaim from fans and critics alike over the years.

But while the show is as perfect as it could be and fans wouldn't want it any other way, it was originally meant to take a different turn. As it turns out, showrunner Roddenberry originally wanted to give up on a hugely fan-beloved character just because he thought he wasn't "a major character on the show": Michael Dorn's Worf!

Aside from Patrick Stewart's iconic Jean-Luc Picard and Jonathan Frake's fan-favorite William T. Riker, if there was one character from Star Trek: The Next Generation that truly stole fans' hearts, it was the series' first Klingon main character and Starfleet officer , Worf.
