The story of the controversy surrounding David O. Russell's treatment of an actress on the set of a movie, and how it came back to haunt him.

A History of Abuse – David O. Russell is finished

Although David O. Russell is one of the most famous names in the industry for his star-studded critically acclaimed works such as American Hustle (2013), Silver Linings Playbook (2012) and The Fighter (2010), he is also quite notorious for his controversial efforts. He is, to say the least, someone who has picked beef with and become the archenemy of A-lister George Clooney.

This list even included actress and comedian Lily Tomlin who, despite being Russell's senior, faced his wrath when he worked with him on I Heart Huckabees in 2004. But this time it all came back to bite the filmmaker just where it hurt when his infamous clip of abusing the actress resurfaced to humiliate him years later in 2012.

About two decades ago, Tomlin teamed up with filmmaker David O. Russell to create the 2004 comedy/indie I Heart Hucklebees. But her experience working with him wasn't one of the best experiences of her life. If anything, all the obscenities hurled at her when the director hit on her meant it was hardly a worthwhile adventure for her.
