After firing 28 people for protesting its cloud deal with Israel by occupying its offices, Google reportedly spent the weekend laying off more staff to bring the number of employees let go over the incident to an even 50.

The latest count comes from No Tech for Apartheid (NTFA), a protest group organized to draw attention to the issue of Project Nimbus, a cloud agreement between Google, AWS and the Israeli government. The NTFA claimed to be aware of the further layoffs in a live-streamed press conference held on Monday, during which some of the dismissed employees spoke publicly.

Of the many speakers on the call, all said they had been fired by Google in the wake of the protests, though several claim they were only tangentially involved in any protest action.

An anonymous speaker, who went by "Oreo," said they, a Palestinian now ex-Google employee with relatives in Gaza, only went into one of the protest sites to meet some of the sit-in participants. Afterward, Oreo claimed to have walked outside the building on public property to hold a sign in support of the protest.
