Google has brought a new update to its RCS-based Messages app with the aim of competing with the likes of iMessage and popular WhatsApp. Google Messages has received a new logo and features, including the ability to reply to a single message, reminders and more.

First of all, the Google Messages app has a new logo, which matches the aesthetics of other Google apps. This will be rolled out to people in the coming weeks. The Phone and Contacts apps will also get the same treatment. These app icons will also work with the Material You theme, which would mean their appearance will change based on the background and theme you have on your Android phone.
The voice message transcription feature, which automatically transcribes the received audio messages, is now available for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6A, Pixel 6 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Fold 4, in addition to the Pixel 7 series.
Then there is the ability to reply to all messages in a chat, much like it can be done on WhatsApp and iMessage. Google Messages started getting the ability to see iMessage reactions and the ability to react to a message sent from an iPhone. This is now rolling out widely.
