Google Cloud has delivered a Broadcom-compatible version of its VMware cloud offering, pitching it as an affordable migration target.

Google Cloud Platform(GCP) | Migrate VMware VM to Google Cloud | Windows 10 VMs on Google Cloud

VMware Cloud Foundation on Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) does many of the things that Broadcom wants the channel to deliver. For starters, it's based on Cloud Foundation – Broadcom's preferred suite of VMware hybrid cloud products. It also recognizes Broadcom's license portability plan, which it is developing as a good way to use VMware rights flexibly across on-premises and cloud resources.

It also reflects the fact that Broadcom offers its top "Pinnacle" partners the chance to sell their wares at discounts that are hard to find from other sources. Google Cloud can therefore offer 20 percent lower support costs when users commit to multi-year contracts and 35 percent lower server rental costs for those willing to make three-year commitments.

These server costs can be applied to four new instance types that are tailored for VMware workloads and also launched on Friday. ve2-mega-96 offers 96 hyperthreads and ve2-mega-128 offers 128. Both are compute nodes.
