Google has dismissed language in its terms that says the Pixel and Chromebook giant will confiscate devices sent in for repairs that contain unapproved parts.

Google Business Profile Suspended – How to fix it?

Chocolate Factory, in its fine print service and repair program, advises customers not to send in "a device that contains parts not authorized by Google – if you do, your device will not be returned to you." Google's Service & Repair Program is administered by KMT Wireless, doing business under the name Cynergy.

The registry asked Google, which likes to celebrate its commitment to sustainability, to explain its basis for refusing to return devices with unapproved parts, whether the policy existed before the July 19, 2023 date on the terms of service page, and whether it will provide details of the number of times service has been denied for units with unapproved parts.

In response, a Google spokesperson said they won't do what its policy says.
