Google recently talked about its plans to make Google Pay "a comprehensive digital wallet", and it seems that the first step in this direction could be the return of Google Wallet, a payment service that the company gave up in favor of Pay. Screenshots of Google Wallet have surfaced and it looks like it will come as part of the Google Pay app. Here are the details.

How to make sense of the Google Wallet confusion?

Mishaal Rahman (Senior Technical Editor at Esper) spotted the new Wallet interface within Google Play Services, which will be a way for users to store and manage their debit cards, gift cards, loyalty cards and even transit cards. This new Google Wallet interface will be part of Google Pay to make it more than a peer-to-peer payment platform. Here's a look at what could be the new "Wallet" interface within Google Play Services. Google Pay still seems to be the brand for contactless payments, but the interface for all your digital cards could be labeled as Wallet (back to square one, right?) pic.twitter.com/ezn3iPMDZa — Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) April 18, 2022

This new capability will of course complement contactless payments, which have clearly become the core of Google Pay. Therefore, the main brand will remain Google Pay and the wallet will only be a part of it. The screenshots also show that Google Wallet will be able to hold airline tickets, theater tickets and more can be added.
