A few weeks ago, Google introduced its long-awaited Pixel Fold at Google I/O 2023 with a Tensor G2 chip, 48 MP cameras and more interesting elements. Also, another Pixel foldable phone was expected, but it never made it. A Google manager has now revealed why!

Pixel 9 Pro Fold: What Google took from us!

In a recent reveal (via Android Authority ), Google's head of hardware design, Ivy Ross, said that Google decided to scrap a second foldable phone because it wasn't "good enough!" This means that if all went well, we would have seen the introduction of two Pixel foldable phones instead.

Ivy Ross revealed on the Made By Google podcast, "I'm really proud of the team because there was another foldable model that we had created, that we had the discipline to hold back and say 'no, it's not good enough yet.'" and really waiting until we felt like we could make something that was good enough or better than what was already out there. So that's really a testament to us being able to do that and recognize when something isn't good enough."

This doesn't mean that another Pixel Fold won't come our way, but we can expect the tech giant to take its time before it becomes official. We don't know what the second foldable Pixel would have looked like, but it wouldn't be shocking if it was in a clamshell form factor to take on the Galaxy Z Flip and Oppo N2 Flip.
