The latest figures from Gartner indicate that SAP is struggling to convince users of the value of its RISE with SAP suite, launched to accelerate users' ERP upgrades and switch to the cloud.

RISE with SAP Journey

The global technology research consultancy has found that the number of customer wins for the RISE suite, which combines SaaS, systems integration and cloud infrastructure in one-hand-to-shake deals, has declined over the past four quarters relative to total sales.

During the third quarter of 2023, RISE with SAP accounted for 71 percent of sales, calculated in terms of customer numbers, Gartner found. In the second quarter of 2024, that figure had dropped to 41 percent. RISE was first launched in January 2021.

Denis Torii, Gartner Enterprise Operations analyst and report author, told The Register that part of the reason for this was that sales were split with GROW with SAP, a separate package launched in 2023 aimed at smaller businesses with the offer of a "ready -to- run" cloud ERP based on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
