US oil giant Halliburton is investigating an "issue", reportedly a cyber attack, that has disrupted some business operations and global networks.
Halliburton hacked: US oilfield giant Halliburton hit by cyber attack, disrupting systems
While the energy giant declined to call it a cyber attack, a Halliburton spokesperson told The Register that it was working to address the issue.
"We are aware of an issue affecting some company systems and are working hard to assess the cause and potential impact," a Halliburton spokesperson said in an emailed statement. "We have activated our pre-planned response plan and are working internally and with leading external experts to address the issue."
However, a person familiar with the disruption told Reuters the world's second-largest oil service suffered a cyberattack, saying the digital breach affected business at Halliburton's north Houston campus, along with some of its global connectivity networks.
