People have "squatted" servers to avoid long wait times
Is the new Helldivers 2 update worth playing?

The launch of Helldivers 2 has been so successful that players are reporting long queues to even get into the game; it peaked at 457,649 players on Steam alone. But while developer Arrowhead Game Studios has been working on upgrading the Helldivers 2 servers, players have been "squatting" the game to avoid the queues – meaning players keep their game running while not playing. It's a move that has caused frustration for other players who start up normally and wait their turn.
However, Arrowhead is trying to address this. CEO Johan Pilestedt posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to say that the team is working on a patch that would include a way to kick AFK squatters. "The team is working on it," he said. "Will probably be in the next patch."
